About

Marianne's cakes owner Marianne BosakMy love of cakes started at an early age when I began helping my Mum and Granny create the annual Christmas cake, my first attempts involved plastic Father Christmas decorations, spikey royal icing finishing off with a frilly Christmas ribbon! It wasn’t long before I thought I could do better and be more creative.

When I was in Guides I undertook my Baden Powell Challenge and as a result enrolled myself in a local sugarcraft class at the age of 14 this, I decided was my new challenge. I was hooked, and knew this is where I belonged, amongst the sugarpaste making beautiful creations. I made my first ‘proper’ cake for that very Baden Powell Award Ceremony. From that day onwards I have always enjoyed being creative and all my friends and family would receive a decorated cake whether they wanted one or not!

I moved to Brackley in 1998 and when my two children were born there were yet more excuses to create cakes and my passion was reignited. Over the past years I have made cakes for friends and family as a hobby.

In July 2014 a friend suggested I enter the Lord Mayor of London’s Cup Cake Challenge for the City Day of Giving. This sounded like a challenge to me, so I conjured up designs for a set of six Griffin Cupcakes and low and behold I won the overall award of the Lord Mayors favorite cupcake. I was delighted to receive from The Lord Mayor of London Alderman Fiona Woolf CBE the prestigious title of ‘Champion City Baker’.

In the past years friends have told me to take my baking more seriously and winning the Cupcake competition gave me the push I needed to open my own business and so Marianne’s Cakes was created!

I love being creative throughout various area of my life, from crafting and quilting to gardening and being a keen DIY’er I can safely say I am a hands on person who loves getting my hands dirty creating things.

I enjoy living in Brackley and being an active member of the community. I am a Guide Guider, a former Governor of a local primary school and a member of the local Carnival Committee. I keep chickens and I enjoy exploring the countryside with my family and lovely Miniature Schnauzer Monty.

I’m looking forward to working with my customers to create bespoke cakes to celebrate their special occasions.Marianne (5)
